What is Colombiana Style?

¿Que es Colombiana Style?

Colombiana Style is a celebration of my Colombian heritage through fashion, design, music and art. My personal style is a reflection of my cultural heritage, where Colombian-made treasures are combined with unique, stylish elements from around the world.

Authentic, handcrafted items align seamlessly with my appreciation for all things genuine and beautiful. It is an eclectic mix of the simple and uncomplicated to the to bold and luxurious. There is no snobbery here – I have great pride in showing off my Colombian-made jeans with a Chanel bag!

Vibrant, joyful, colorful, sensual, and sexy – these are just a few words that define my Colombiana Style.

My Colombian culture, combined with elements of my American upbringing and my travels abroad merge together into my own personal aesthetic to create Colombiana Style.

I invite you to explore this blog and share with you everything that influences, inspires and ignites my passion for Colombian designers, artisans and artists, and spread the abundant joy of Colombiana Style! ¡Vengan pues! Let’s go!

Born in Medellin, Colombia and currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I am an artist with a passion for travel, design, history and the natural world. Born in Medellin, Colombia and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area since the 1970’s, my parents raised speaking Spanish, eating arepas y sanchocho*, and listening to vallenatos y porros*, ensuring that I traveled often to Colombia for months at a time so that I stay connected to my very large Colombian family. I credit my parents, grandmother, aunts, uncles and countless, cousins and extended family who taught me to keep my language skills in check and embrace my Colombian heritage.

Although there were not many Colombian immigrants near us, living here in the Bay Area gave us a unique opportunity to experience other cultures and appreciate the SF Bay Area’s unique cultural diversity. I lived in Paris for 3 years and I continue to travel and explore as a citizen of the world. I am constantly blending my travel experiences into my personal aesthetic which colors almost every aspect of my lifestyle.

I love art, fashion, language, music and food and I have a passion for animals, especially horses and my lovely dogs. Everything around me expresses an aspect of my Colombian heritage – it is a big part of how I live my life.

Whether I am at home or abroad, Colombia is in my heart and soul. There is no place I go where I don’t have something with me that is made in Colombia.

I miss Colombia and I return as often as possible. I still love coming back to California and sharing with my friends all my experiences and treasures. That is how I came to create this site – to bring a little bit of “mi casa” to your casa.
